People living with diabetes can order their consumable products and ensure accurate supply in pharmacy 26 August 2016 New Resource for Australians living with diabetes MedAdvisor Ltd has launched a new tool that allows people living with diabetes to order their consumable products and ensure accurate supply in pharmacy. The facility has been launched in collaboration with the national diabetes organisation, ºÚÁÏÍø. The National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS), funded by the Australian Government and administered by ºÚÁÏÍø, provides subsidised diabetes consumable products. Previously, people living with diabetes were able to order their supplies, including blood glucose testing strips, insulin pen needles and insulin pump consumables, through an online shop. However, a new policy change has resulted in these products made available only through pharmacies. MedAdvisor’s new features will enable people with diabetes to reserve NDSS products using an app or computer and collect it from their MedAdvisor Network Pharmacy of choice. There are currently 1.2 million Australians living with Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, or gestational diabetes and registered with the NDSS. MedAdvisor has over 35,000 people living with diabetes already on the platform and aims to support more patients with the help of Diabetes Australia. The MedAdvisor platform has shown to improve medication adherence by about 20% through reminders that alert patients to take their doses, fill their scripts and see the doctor for new scripts.
